Description
| Officers', 1892 Rifle Pattern. Straight, unsharpened blade ending in a spear point, the blade becoming double edged towards the tip. The blade is decoratively etched with floral patterns, kings crown and bugle horn. The blade also features the personal crest of Lieutenant Colonel A. J. Lardner-Clarke to whom this sword belonged. The etching is faint and worn making it difficult to see. Gothic hilt bearing a regimental badge of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) consisting of a five-pointed star surrounded by a garter inscribed 'The Cameronians' surmounted with a kings crown, the whole being wrapped in a spray of thistles. The grip is of fishskin bound with gilt wire cord. The underside of the hilt is marked 'Lt Col A. J. Lardner Clarke 1924-1952'. |
