Description The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) variant of the 1892 Rifle Pattern officers' sword. Straight, spear-point blade which becomes double-edged towards the tip. Gothic style hilt which bears a regimental badge comprising a mullet (5-pointed star) within a garter inscribed 'The Cameronians' surmounted by a Kings Crown, the whole being wrapped in a spray of thistles. The blade is marked with the cypher of George V who reigned from 1910-1936. One side of the blade is marked with the letters DAHG while the other is marked MADG. The blade is marked to Wilkinson Sword and bears the number 44337. The underside of the hilt is stamped with a 2 and the details MAJOR GENERAL D.A.H. GRAHAM CB. CBE. DSO. MC.

The sword originally belonged to Douglas Alexander Henry Graham who was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) on 17th September 1913. 2/Lt Graham served with the 1st Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) in the First World War. He was a platoon commander in D Company when he was wounded on 22nd October 1914. Private Henry May, who served in 2/Lt Graham's platoon, was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions that day when he managed to drag the wounded officer some 300 yards to safety while under fire.

Douglas Alexander Henry Graham went on to command the 2nd Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) from June 1937 until April 1940. He retired from the Army with the rank of Major-General. For his service during the two World Wars he had been mentioned in despatches, been awarded the Military Cross (MC) and the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) and had been made Commander of the Order of the Bath (CB) and Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE). He was Colonel of the Regiment of The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) from 1954 - 1958.

Mungo Alan Douglas Graham, son of Douglas Alexander Henry Graham, was commissioned into the 2nd Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) on 25th August 1938. At that point, the Battalion was commanded by his father, Lieutenant Colonel D. A. H. Graham. 2/Lt M. A. D. Graham served with The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) throughout the Second World War and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry. He retired from the Army in 1959 with the rank of Major.

At some point this sword was passed from father to son, as both officer's initials appear on the blade. It would also appear that the sword has been reconditioned at some point, possibly when the blade was etched to carry both father and sons initials. The grip looks in almost new condition, while the blade and handguard are very clean and free from scratches/dents. The handguard looks to have been chromed or plated at some point.
